Stray Towers was constructed between 1854 and 1891.
The house appears to have been converted into a hotel at some point between 1909 and 1913. After this it was split into apartments. Our clients own the Ground Floor apartment and the Basement.

The work involved was to convert the basement, bringing it into the living space, to reorganise and restore the interior. This has been a substantial undertaking since so many elements needed to be addressed; the accumulation of decades of bad decisions and poor workmanship meant that the apartment had been stripped of its original character and features. In brief the work done consisted:
·      Reinstatement of period features
·      Conversion of the basement into habitable space
·      New lightwells into the basement
·      New cantilevered stone staircase
·      Restoration of the garden room
·      Replacing the front walls and flagging

Internally we provided detailed designs of the architectural interior to improve and bring cohesion to the space. Externally problems were rectified so that once again the quality of the building shines through.
